What is the name of your state? Wisconsin....But the divorce was final in Illinois. My X is backing out of obligation he made to pay a loan that we both signed for the same day the divorce papers were drawn up. The problem is that in the property settlement page this wasnt added but i wrote it in after the fact. I initialed the clause....he did not. I took his word for his promise to pay back the loan....Big mistake i guess. Does anyone think that i can hold him responsible for paying the loan back or is it both of ours responsibility ??

No you cannot hold him responsible. You wrote this yourself, and he never signed it anyway's.

Why wasn't this covered in the divorce?

x backed out

Since everything was agreed upon I did not hire a lawyer myself and did not attend the hearing. I really did not think that I can hold him responsible but just wanted feedback. He offered to pay for half the loan and I guess thats better than nothing.
Thanks for the reply
