my x landlord is taking me to court claiming i owe him
$2700.00 for damages. i lived in his apartment from 10/00-12/31/00. this was temporary housing set up by my insurance company. my insurance co walked through the apartment before we moved to check for damages. they issued me a statement stating that their were none. the landlord never contacted me regarding my security deposit, i thought there was a law re: this. after 55 days i finally recived a notice that he was taking me to court. is this ligit does he have a case?? who is in violation me or him for not returning my deposit or a notification of what he used it for? i live in the state of illinois

It sounds like you will have to slug it out in court.

You might send him a letter asking him for a detailed description of what he is asking this money for. That will help you to prepare what you want to do in court.
