when is the county or state liable for not having the correct signs up at an intersection? what i speak of is an intersection that has two intersecting roads 55 mph. each road, one 1 mile from the highway going east/west . The other a n/s road. there has been seriuos accidents at this intersection twice. once 2 fatalities 30 years ago(yield sign in place) the other 9/6/01. one fatality. visibility very good during daylight hours. poor at night. also at least one nonfatal accident. community wonders, where is stop sign? no one department in the government wants to take care of ths. i know they are to follow the federal MUTCD. But who implements this? these are gravel roads too. I live in Kansas and want to check with the correct authorities. I get blank stares whereever i go.
