What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania

An incident happened with my daughter last week, she was walking home and stopped at a store to pick up a few items for me, a few kids that she knew were in there and started calling her names and threatening to beat her up (there has been ongoing bullying of my daughter by these girls). One of the girls followed her about 1/4 mile down the road threatening to kick her ass and calling her a dirty lesbian. My daughter then ran into another store and called me. We called the police and I informed the police I wanted charges pressed against this girl. I talked to the police today to find out what was happening and he said he located the girl and her and her parents came to the police station. This girl claimed that my daughter called her the N word in the store and the only thing that she said to my daughter was that she shouldn't say that word because someone would kick her ass, she says that she did not follow my daughter... The cop told me that if I press charges against this other girl that the girls family is going to press harrassment charges against my daughter for supposedly calling their daughter the N word. My question is if they press this charge what would happen to my daughter? What should we do should we still press charges even though my daughter would be charged with something also, even though she did not say anything to these girls. I know nothing about how these laws work.....help please

If I were you, I would leave well enough alone. In addition to that I would teach my daughter some manners ~ I'd wash her mouth out with soap if she ever even thought of using that word.

My daughter did NOT use that word! That is my point! She has been bullied by this group of girls for months now, she is afraid of them, the last thing she is going to say to them is that word, when there are 4 of them and one of her!

The problem is you weren't there and don't know exactly what happened - it's going to be other girl's word against your daughter.
