Juvenile To Child Incest
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Situation: Female child age 9 sexually assaulted (rape) by 16 yr old male cousin. Happened approximately 5 years ago. Reported to family just very recently, by female child. What steps should be taken?? Also, what is the statue of limitations in regards to this? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

What happened when the police were contacted? I mean, that was the FIRST call, right? You didn't seriously hop on an internet forum after you found out, did you?

No, the police have not been called at this point. The child is undergoing physical and emotional evaluations at a crisis rape center. My questioning is that of a legal stand point as far as the rights of the victim. I guess I incorrectly worded my questions.

Geez....this is my first time ever posting in a forum like this. Now I know why! You guys are so quick to judge why the authorities have not been contacted. Just trying to get a thought on how things would proceed after the report and exams are complete, and so forth. Looking for someone who's dealt with situation before. AND YES, they had already been contacted!!

Sorry but this is not a place to come for a support group. This is to get your legal questions answered.
No one is judging you. We asked why, which is a very valid question. In fact now I'm not sure that many people here will believe you. In your first couple posts you said no they were not contacted; and now that you were called out on it you said yes they were. So which is it???

Yes, I agree that this is not the place for support. I simply asked how things would proceed and what to expect! Belief or not is not the issue.

I am looking into this situation from the outside; a friend's and a nurse's prospective. Only trying to better my knowledge and to be supportive. CAN ANYONE please ANSWER my questions, other than convicting me of not notifying the authorities and such????
