What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OR
Two weeks ago I received a letter from Zwicker & Associates P C. Has anyone heared for this collection agency is this a legal agency? Our bankruptcy was just discharged in June and 1st week of July they contacted me wanting the full amount on a student loan and they would not accept payments they have threatened to sue us etc, etc. So I wanted to know if this is a real place of busness and has anyone dealt with them. Thanks

The relevant parts of the post:
the full amount on a student loan

Bankruptcy doesn't discharge student loans without extra steps that are more difficult than racing a Sherpa up Everest with a 90 pound pack and carrying Al Gore.

You really should negotiate with them.

We were told that the student loan will have to be paid even if we filled bankruptcy and during the 3 years I made attempts to contact the loan company but nobody would talk to us, so when we got the letter from Zwicker I called them to make payment arrangments and they demanded the full amount in one lump sum within 30 days. That is where I have a problem, I am able to make payments. I have close to $1500 to pay them and I would like to make payment arrangements for the remainder $1850, but they will not negotiate and they told me to take a cash advance on my credit card or cash out the 401k and contact them when I have the money and give them our bank account no:. THat makes me suspicious, and the amount that is mentioned on our credit report does not match the amount they demanding. I also spoke to the loan company and things are not adding up. So before I pay them the $1500 I want to make sure that I am making the payment to the right people. Does this sound legit to you, if you think so please let me know.
Thanks
