please advise what are the approximate fees a lawyer would charge to make a simple will where my wife is the sole executor

Lawyers will charge whatever they can get away with--you need to be talking to other probate lawyers in your area about this, since it is unlikely that any attorneys from your state would be reading this message board. Depending on how simple or complicated the estate assets are, fees can range from $200 to upwards of $1,000.
