What is the name of your state? A

My ex husband is at this point 57k behind in Child support. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to make him pay up? I heard that in the state of Arizona you can not put someone in jail for being behind in child support. Which is fine I don't want that to happen but I feel there should be some way to make him pay. Every once in awhile the child support department will find him and start to garnish his wages but then he quits that job after the first or second check. I have had 2 partial payments in 3 years. He doesn't see our kids. Not because I won't let him but because he moved and started a new family and feels my current husband and I should raise them. Which we love doing. It would just be nice to save money for college and such.

lol I have seen your post and believe you could help me. You don't seem to be the type to let the fact that I am in Arizona stop you from giving me some good advice.

Yeah, here are some ideas, let me know if any of them work"

1) Strap one of those cop issued "zapper thingies" to his testicles. Sit outside of his house and if he refuses to get out and go to work that day then zap him every five seconds until the ambulance shows up or he leaves fully dressed for work.

2) Buy out all of the bars in town.

3) Buy out the local cable services.

4) And buy out all of the "Escort" services in town. (though I don't think this will be necessary if you try option one first.)

5) Buy out the grocery story and only sell Red Bull.

Try all four of these at once and I promise you he will do one of the following:

- Die

- Move out of town

- Go to work

- Admit himself to an insane asylum.

Please note that none of these things would necessarly be legal. If you don't like any of those options another good one would be to do one of the following:

1) Get a job

2) If you already have a job then get a better paying one.

3) If you really want your job and don't want to leave that one for a better paying one then get a second job.

I do realize that none of these things will "GET HIM TO PAY" but they are viable options.

What you are going through is nothing new. Do you know how many CP's deal with a non-paying NCP (and we are talking BOTH men and women who avoid paying)?? Has his licenses been suspended? Liens against any property he might own? If one is willing to avoid paying, they will and there isn't much you can do about it.

Thank your for giving me a serious answer unlike some of the post. The answer is no to all the above. The only thing that has been done is what the child support office has done by garnishing his wages. I didn't realize he could get his suspended for not paying child support. Or anything else that is why I was asking. I feel he needs to have a fire lit under his butt so to speak. I guess I need to contact a lawyer to see if they can do anything you suggested.

and to abstract uhh no I shouldnl't have to get another job. I work one already put in long hours and it pays very well. My husband also works 2 full time jobs. I wanted a serious response to a problem. Come on hes 57 thousand dollars behind. I didnt say we couldnt afford to raise them it would just be nice to get them more of the things they want and not just what they need. It is NOT my sole responsibility. You make it sound like I am trying to get something that is not due to my children. Child support is. Stop being a fool and giving humorless responses.

file for contempt for non payment of child support. Have you contacted CSE in Arizona? Don't believe for a second that you can not go to jail for non support in the state of Arizona. Sherriff Joe loves dead beat dads.

I spoke to somene at the department of child support and she told me that in AZ they wouldnt take a dad to jail for failure to pay. That they only do so if they fail to show up for a court date for child support. Oh well he hasn't paid in so long we don't actually expect him to. It would just be nice if we had something we could do to encourage him to try. Thank you for your response
