5mos preg - truck ran light and T'd my car

What is the name of your state? NJ

i was involved in an accident 2 days ago -

details of the accident - for background if anyone is interested -

i am 5 months pregnant - and was the first car in an intersection waiting to cross a 6 lane highway (3 n/b lanes 3 s/b lanes). after the light changed i started into the intersection and was broadsided by a construction 'pick-up' truck that was going about 60 mph - i sped up (to about 14 mph) to avoid him and that actually saved my life
his bumper broke my driver's side REAR window - all driver's side airbags deployed and the car (2001 VW GTI VR6) will most probably be totalled (major frame damage)
i was taken to the hospital via ambulance and was kept overnight because of the impact and the fact that the seatbelt/airbag/door arm rest 'bruising' on my left side is EXACTLY where the placenta is ..

i have been given 1mo disabilty and i am in a lot of pain since i cant take any medications (being pregnant) for the pain .. [/color]

my question is -none of my injuries APPEAR to be permanent (they cant do any X-Rays of my shoulder or sternum because i'm pregnant) - the baby APPEARS to be ok - but it seems that he took some of the impact directly - (the doctors werent sure if the bruising was ME bleeding or the baby) - do i have a case ?? is it even worth pursuing ?? if so how soon should i see a lawyer ?? i dont want to seem money hungry - but i also didnt ask for this to happen -

thank you in advance :)

FYI - i have NO lawsuit threshold on my policy (meaning i can sue)

Have you contacted your insurance yet? If not then that's your first call.

i have one more question -

i have the HIGHEST coverage availble on my insurance (millions - because i'm afraid of being under-insured - ie. i hit a range rover and kill 2 kids)

i am assuming that the initial claim will go to MY insurance company - and if he's found at fault (i'll get the police report tomorrow) then my insurance company will go after his - and recover what they paid out - and therefore my premium will not be affected -

question is - if my bills total more than his BASIC coverage will pay - does my insurance then go after him for the difference or do they eat the difference or do they then increase my premium to cover the cost ?

also - since i am pregnant - and i have no IDEA how my baby will be (i will see another high risk specialist in a month when the swelling on my abdomen goes down) should i accept a settlement now or wait until the baby is born - i have been told by a few people that the insurance co's will be offering a LOT - and while i dont believe they would offer tons of money "just because its cheaper than lifelong medical bills for the baby" i am not sure 'holding out' is right either - i just want a healthy baby at this point -
