Not looking forward to jail!

His ex wife is crazy and would do anything to ruin our good thing. She hates that she wanted the divorce from him and regrets it. It may seem like I'm taking things to the extreme but if you knew that crazy woman than you wouldn't do anything that she could take before a court.

There is possibly less crazy about his exwife than you think if you are having to go to extreems to accommodate this man. He doesn't want a prenup and so he is not willing to comit to a marriage to you where he doesn't have to hold up on his own, financially, even if he has for the time being agreed to continue to work and pay his obligations.

Maybe you can find a man who will not be dependent on you financially. BTW if your primary residence is California, that raises other questions insofar as cohabitation.

To add some more confusion, SC is a common law marriage state cohabitaiton in anyway shape or form your constitute a common law marriage not only in SC but other states as well, so even taking a vacation together to a common law state or DC could find you battling this issue. Here is a link discussing some case law for Common Law Marriage in SC. http://www.rrb.gov/pdf/l-97-28.pdf

Please consult with your attorney's re this and also make sure that you have legally settled issues with your child's father because that can always come back and bite you.
