Thank you for providing your state name. I already had narrowed your state down to Colorado or South Carolina. :)

Being patient is about the best thing you can do right now - along with keeping your fingers crossed that, if your defendant does file a counterclaim, it does not exceed the small claims limit and you have a good defense to the claim.

Good luck in court.

It occurs to me that the countersuit may already be in the court case file even though not yet served on you.

You could go to the court house and check for it if you want to.
