The co-owner would not be responsible for the damage caused by the installer. There is no proximate cause.

So ... this thread seems to have taken a bit of a detour. :)

stevepenn60 and the co-owner of his vehicle should seek reimbursement for repairs of the damage to their car from the installer of the IID, if faulty installation of the IID by the mechanic can be pinpointed as the source of the vehicle’s problems.
