California, I just bought a new car from a dealer. Within a week, I was in a fender bender with another car. I was at fault. I did not notify my insurance company of the new car thinking that it was automatically covered. My insurance denied my claim saying that because I am not the main policy holder, I am not covered automatically. Is this correct and if so can I do anything else?

Most insurance companies allow 3 business days for transferring of insurance to a new or different vehicle. There is no such thing as "automatic" coverage. You will have to pay.
