If the citation is corrected (in this case, if the plates are received and mounted), then the violation can be signed off by an officer, a DMV employee, or the clerk of the court (or his/her representative), and only a processing fee would be assessed (usually less than $50 all told) ... $20 in my neck of the woods.


I would contact the DMV ASAP and find out what is going on with them.
Ditto that suggestion.
