I have high functioning autisum, however I am gender non confirming and like to wear skirts although I was born a man. I am thinking a bout going on a road trip but I have heard that texas has no anti discrimination laws, meaning that they can kick me out of every place and will die from starvation during my road trip. However my mom has an idea. One symptom of autisum is not conforming with stareotypes and social norms. I have also heard that stuborness is also a symptim of autisum. Can being kicking out of a store, resturant, hotel, ext. for wearing a skirts be done with the Americans With Disabilities on the acount that since it is part of my disability and is discrimination on the basis of disability and to make my reasonable acomadations being allowed to wear skirts. Also part of my autisum is needing to have my physical needs met right away, so this might also help in the case. Do you think the judges will agree or will I die from hunger. Note: we might be traveling through texas. Also say if you are a lawyer.

While you might catch grief at some random roadside greasy spoon, most of Texas won't care what you're wearing - this I guarantee. The rest of your plan is ridiculous and frankly wouldn't work. Are you intending to sue for every case of stink eye you get? That's going to make for a mighty long road trip.

No, nothing in the ADA is going to force any entity to allow you to violate their dress code. Nothing in the ADA or in the discrimination laws say that you have to be allowed to do anything you want.

Actully in California the anti discrimination laws include gender. It's just texas doesn't have any. The problem is that trump will veto every good law and sign laws that are so evil that they might as well be made by the devil. He practicly is the devil.

Most Texans would object more to your histrionics than to your choice of clothing. And if you're seriously concerned about "starving to death" why don't you pack some food for your trip?

Gosh I bet nobody in your entire life has ever said you're a tad melodramatic, have they?

The only way you will "die" from hunger is if you refuse to eat. You will NOT get summarily booted from roadside greasy spoons, grocery stores, and chain restaurants simply because you choose to dress like a woman. Oh, you might get the odd stare or even a derogatory comment or two, but you are not going to find restaurants throughout the state booting you.

And, as has been stated, the ADA does not deal with this sort of thing. Depending on where you might travel, there MIGHT be state anti-discrimination laws that could apply, but, unless you wander in and start making a scene such that you are disturbing people, I doubt that you will find yourself booted. And if you are, chances are it would be for your actions and not for your choice of ill-advised clothing.

Autism, not autisum.

If you plan your trip carefully, you will not "die from hunger" when traveling through Texas. Several large cities in Texas now have ordinances that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. You may not be able to find these same protections in smaller cities and towns of Texas, however, which is one reason there have been bills introduced in both the Texas House and Senate to change laws to extend protection statewide.

You are not going to die from hunger. Even if you could not enter any restaurants (which is ridiculous) there is always drive thru windows.

Here's a news flash - women wear pants, too.

Be that as it may..... you would do well to dial back the drama. I have a trans* child who has travelled around the country, wears what she pleases and has never been refused service (though has gotten odd looks and comments). If you are concerned, stick to larger cities and pack food (and a camp stove) for the places in between. Or, as suggested, use drive-thrus.

And p.s. Trump alone can do nothing, nor will things be repealed overnight.

In every state the anti discrimination laws include gender. But the anti discrimination laws don't say what you think they say.
