I'm a self employed contractor. I'm a dba as a self proprietor. I brought a claim against another party and lost. They were awarded legal fees. The fees are aprx. $395,000. I dont have that kind of money. I had a chapter 7 bk. aprx. 5 years ago. I was told I can do a chapter 13 this time because I do not qualify for a chapter 7 at this time. I am preparing my paperwork and realized my home is in the middle of a loan modification. I will need to tell my attorney tomorrow. Will the chapter 13 filing hurt my loan modification? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
