Myself and a few co-workers were having a discussion about payroll checks that bounce.

Basically if you deposit your paycheck in the bank and it bounces, the bank will come after you for the funds. We all agree on this to be true.

Here is the part the dispute is about....

If you were to take your paycheck to one of those places that have the big "Checks cashed here" signs and charge a fee to cash a check, and the check bounces, who would the check cashing company come after?

My take is it would be just like the bank, and they would come to you for the money. Another co-workers take is they are not allowed to come after you and they have to go after the company that wrote the bad check.

Who is right?
