My grandmother passed away last Sept. She left the property to the grandchildren (Of which I am one) rather than her daughter (my mom) and her son (my cousin's dad). Since my my mom had 4 kids and my uncle only one, the distribution is more favorable to my side of the family. My cousin, Steve, and I were appointed co-executors in the Trust. Steve is very bitter and blames my family for convincing my grandmother to distribut her assets this way. Although our executor duties started out ok, filing taxes, and getting affairs in order, notifying all the heirs, etc, it has been several weeks since I have been able to contact Steve. He does not return my calls or answer my emails. I am beginning to wonderr if he is somehow trying to contest the trust and was perhaps instructed by an attourney not to communicate with me. To me it is okay if he contests it. Is there anything I can do to find out if he is? or what else might be going on?

Thanks

Send a certified letter to both the attorney and the co-executor listing the attempts you've made to contact them to resolve required business of the estate. Give a deadline for contacting you. If no response, fire the attorney and get another one to file against the co-executor for breach of fiduciary duty.
