Hi, I was arrested for owi in Oct. 2000. My court date was scheduled for late Nov. The arresting officer called and switched the date to early Dec. I hired an attorney, who went to the court house on said date, similiar to the other question by thanksgiving, no one was there. The attorney inquired, and they didnt even have my name or case number on file. He said he left, and didnt want to ask any more questions, not to raise any red flags. It wasnt his job to help the prosecutors. He told me to wait and see what happens, maybe they lost your case, or maybe the police will show up at your door with an arrest warrent. Now I sit in limbo, not knowing what to do. I live in the state of Wisconsin. Any advise??

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

Keep sitting in limbo.

Then check for time limitations for prosecution in the state of wisconsin. IF they don't get you by then, you win on a technicality.

Check 939.74

Then check to see what your category is you fall under (crime charged):http://www.legis.state.wi.us/rsb/Statutes.html
