My daugter has been in a physcially abusive relationship with the baby's father for 3 years. She has refused to press charges, but has been seen with many black eyes and marks on her neck and has told people what is going on. I, as her mother, was attacked by him, but he only got anger management classes and then is record expunged.
She is talking about leaving him, but he has threatened to take the baby. His parents would push that issue too.
Her fear is that if she leaves, and they take him for a visit, they can keep him and not give him back since there is no protection order or custody arrangement.
Then the police could do nothing right?
What should her first move be if she leaves to keep her and the baby safe and keep them together?
