Divorce after legal separation

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

If my husband and I Legally Separate, each of us not contesting and taking only with us our own possessions, can my husband then come back and divorce me...would we have to renegotiate everything? What if something was not addressed in the Legal Separation?
