What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Mexico

My wife (who lives in Desoto County, MS) and I have been separated...have not physically seen her since October 2004. We sold our home in MS last June (she got her share and I got my share). We have no children together, and we own no other assets. Can I file for divorce here in NM or do I have to file back in MS. I have lived and worked out here for the past 8 years. What would you suggest?

"The (New Mexico) district court has jurisdiction to decree a dissolution of marriage when at the time of filing the petition either party has resided in this state for at least six months immediately preceding the date of the filing and has a domicile in New Mexico. The petition is to be filed in the county in which either spouse reside."
