executrix passed away first?

What is the name of your state? New York My mother was the executrix of her sister's will. My mother passed away recently which leaves no executor for her sister's will since that circumstance was not addressed. My aunt is in the early stages of Alzhemer's and some times does not make good decisions. But she has said when she was prefectly lucid said she didn't think her will needs changing and she also said she didn't want to sign anything. So as it stands now who or how would an executor be choosen?

I have no idea how an unnamed, unknown judge does anything.
