What is the name of your state? NJ

How long does one have to be a resident of NJ to be able to file bankruptcy in the state of NJ? What documentation needs to be filed to prove NJ residency? Does one need to have a NJ drivers license, for example, or have a utility bill addressed in NJ?

Thanks.

Federal BK law says you must be a resident of the state you're going to file in for the greater part of the 180 days preceeding your bk filing. In other words, you would have to live in NJ for at LEAST 91 days to file for BK there.

Establishing residency usually mean you actually LIVE there and have utilities for that address. A DL may or may not be sufficient proof of residency.
