The year to date Gross amount changes by -47 every paycheck.. I understand The -47 Will be in the colume but why does it keep getting subtracted from the year to date gross...
All right, why do YOU think it's happening? And if it isn't affecting your net pay why do you think it matters?

If the previous paycheck was:

5397.50 year to date gross
- -47.00 year to date misc ded
5350.50 gross

Then surely, you can see that your year to date has only changed by $47 for the whole time, right?

It's the same as $5350.50+$731.00=$6081.50. Another $47 was not deducted.

Because it came out of your pay the one time. But it is not being duplicated. Year-to-Date represents everything that has happened. Your gross would have been $6128.50, but you paid $47.00 for the shirts. That reduced your pay in the first payperiod by that amount. So your year-to-date gross is also reduced by $47.00 to $6081.50.

Your current pay was not affected. $17.00 x 43 hours= $731.00. Misc under current payperiod is $0.00.
