What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OK

My wife's paycheck has been garnished for the past 6 months or so. Initially, we requested a hardship hearing where the loan company and she agreed to have $70 per month taken out as a garnishment. She currently makes about $1600 per month.

This has been fine for about 6 months and the proper amount has been taken out. This month, apparently they had the garnishment changed to pull out $250 or so per pay check. (roughly 1/4 of her take-home pay).

It's my understanding that the initial agreement, made in court and approved by the judge cannot be changed unless both parties agree to it, is this correct?

It just doesn't seem to make sense that they can go back on their initial agreement of only $70 just because they "want to" - we have all the original documentation showing that the court had accepted our joint agreement and ordered the $70 be taken out - we can afford to live with this smaller amount, but taking 1/4 of her paycheck is going to sink us financially.

Do we have any recourse here? If so, what should we do?
