I recently have been charged and given a fine of over 400 dollars for each regarding 2 counts of retail theft. i am debating on wether or not to plead not guilty and goto trial to prove my innocence or just pay the money and plead guilty and get it over with.

I dont have to goto court if i plead guilty just pay the fine.
My question is: I am wondering if i am found guilty after pleading not guilty, can the judge raise the original fine he imposed on me. or can he even possibly sentence me to jail time?

Please someone answer this question effectively for me as i only have 2 days to reply to the summons. Thanks a lot
