It's the lateral G's that he's worried about.

Me....I just try to keep the shiny side up, and undented, so I'm not staring at grass roots. Had a vette, been there, done that.

there is a difference between 1G VERTICAL (ie. gravity) and 1G LATERAL which is one of the rather amazing things the corvettes are capable of doing without losing control. Our engineer friend is VERY aware of the difference. I'll not take this further...

As far as touching an airplane is concerned... I wouldn't fly an aircraft with frame damage, either.... imagine an Extra with frame damage, now do a controlled spin. No thanks.
