What is the name of your state? Georgia

My husband has been a victim of Identity theft by his ex-wife. she has established 4 telephone services in his name and has not paid any of them. His credit report is ruined, and now she has mnoved to Texas fleeing prosecution. The town she lived in said we would have to press charges in Texas, why is that?
What can we do to get her to be held accountable for this mess. Who do we write to? and what kind of forms do we need to file suit can we file against her, can't afford a lawyer. We can not go to Texas and do this, and we should not have to! We are afraid that she is continuing to do the same thing oin Texas, can my husband get a new social security number? The bills total 3,000 dollars.

If these are local or long distance carriers (as opposed to cell phones), have husband write a letter, certified mail, return receipt requested, which states all the dates, etc. that are relevant to these charges.

Ask for something from each telephone company in writing stating that they realize that husband did not open these accounts.

If they won't do that, file a complaint with the Georgia Public Service Commission if they are landlines, the FCC if they are cellphones.

Keep copies of every single paper you create about this mess and politely hound those carriers till they do something in husband's favor.

There are credit attorneys on this forum who can give you tips on how to clean up your credit report.
