I have a feeling I know the answer to this one: My fiance was ordered to have his property surveyed in a divorces settlement in order to split the property. He bought 43 acres in early 1990's. The surveyor just called and told him that he only has 28.6 acres. The deed says 43; he's been paying taxes on 43; when he bought the property he had an attorney check out the deed to see if everything was alright and he said it was. The owners of the missing 14.4 acres is a coal company that appears to have owned that land since the 1960's. Is there anything that can be done at this point? Thanks.
