What is the name of your state?pa
What if you claimed bankruptcy back in 1993. You spoke to a lawyer (whos name I cannot remember) and they said the judgement from the auto accident would be covered in the bankruptcy. I had to fax it to the lawyer suing. that was that. Now, after more than 10 yrs, I get a letter supoena to come to court for not paying the fines from this, even though the lawyer said it was. I cannot find the letter. Is there anything online that I could find to find my bankruptcy info to prove this?

don't you have your old schedules?? you should always keep those. was the accident due to drugs, alcohol ect? if so it may not be dischargable. You should be able to get some of your information from a pacer account. It's free to sign up but it cost 8 cents a page to view. you can find the pacer sign up here http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/

Hmm.. chances are that a 1996 case won't be on Pacer. A case that old has been sent to the Archives a long time ago. However, you CAN get your BK case from the archives. Call the BK court where you filed and tell them you need to get a copy of your bankruptcy. They will send you a form (or go there and get it if you can). It costs $10 to get copies of the schedules you filed and only takes about 2 weeks to get them. I helped my sister do this, so I know how it works. She filed in 1998.

I wasn't aware cases that old would still be on Pacer. It its possible that each district differs in available records, so the OP should probably check there first.

Fines and penalties payable to governmental entities are not discharged in a chapter 7 case. It would help to answer the OP's question if he were (a) to speak in the first person, and (b) say some more about what "paying the fines from this" refers to.
