What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Minnesota

Hello,

Our landlord has been telling us about gym renovations since before I moved in 7 months ago (even on the initial tour). A solid date was never given but one that was communicated for sure - the gym would only be closed for "2-3 weeks".

Yesterday we were informed that the gym and pool would be closed starting next week for 3.5 months with no back up plan. No temporary gym space. No offer of a gym membership nearby. Nothing.

I can handle 2-3 weeks. But 3.5 months is ridiculous. I use the gym and pool 5-6 times per week and this was a HUGE factor in my decision to live in a place that costs more than others nearby.

Do we have any right to expect something in exchange for these three-plus months?

Thoughts appreciated!

You are free to express your concerns to management. However, the fact that the area would be closing for renovations was something that was disclosed to you. They may have guessed at the amount time required, but there's no way anyone could have known for sure.

Fair enough. I just think there is a big difference in 3 weeks vs 3.5 months (or 15+ weeks).
