the car is a 2011 Honda civic 2 door Lx.

I don't see any drive train/transmission related complaints/investigations/recalls for a 2011 Honda Civic.

I would suggest going to another dealer.

Also remeber you will receive a survey either by phone or mail, about the sake, how you we're treated etc. I would make sure to note the problem on the survey, and tell them exactly what the service manager told you.
Also as other have suggested, a call to Honda is a must.
