What is the name of your state? Georgia

I purchased a used vehicle on September 1st and as of today I have yet to received my car plates.

I have called the dealership many times. They keep telling me that they have yet to receive funding from the lender. Once the funding has been received they will send me my car tag.

My current temporary tag expires Dec 26th. It has been 120 days since purchase.

Do I have the right to with hold payments until I receive my tag?

Also, do I have any legal recourse against the dealership for not issuing my tag?

No. However, your dealer has apparently NOT been in compliance with state laws and you should contact them (in WRITING) and DEMAND your proper plates within 10 days or you will file a complaint with the 'Georgia State Board of Registration of Used Motor Vehicle Dealers and Used Motor Vehicle Parts Dealers'. Their website is at: http://www.sos.state.ga.us/plb/usedcar/

Also, you need to read the information at:

Good luck OP.........and
Thank you JetX for the info. My bf was going thru the same thing since 6/04. I posted this a few weeks ago and no one answered. Sorry for hi-jacking OP but I need this info as well.

They completed the title work on 12/14 and mailed the info on 12/17. However, they(the dealership) mailed it to my old address. The clerk advised for me to file a complaint with the BBB and with the state licensure.
