My husband and I are in the process of building a mother-in-law cottage on our property for permanent residence for my mother. We are also drafting up our wills. He and I agree that we should give compensation to her. Are these phrases reasonable?

"If my Personal Representative deems it necessary to liquidate my real property in XXX County, Florida, Tax Parcel Identification XX-XX-XXXX, I bequeath 20% of the dollar amount of said sale to my mother, Jane Doe."

"If my Personal Representative deems it necessary to deny my mother, Jane Doe, residence on my real property in XXX County, Florida, Tax Parcel Identification XX-XX-XXXX, after my death, I require that said real property be professionally appraised, and that 20% of the dollar amount of said appraisal value be paid to my mother for the purposes of relocation."

With all your things you want to accomplish, you need an attorney to do all this rather than DIY. Also have the attorney draft a Standby Guardian.
