What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Okay, how come a thread sometimes entirely disappears instead of only being locked

Sometimes the person who started the thread deletes and sometimes the moderators delete it if they believe it is completely irrelevant.

It was the one on the guy who claimed ignorance of the law and wanted to sign away rights to his baby. I was hoping to learn more, but oh well. He pby deleted it.

If an original poster deletes their first post, it deletes the entire thread...unless the moderator intervenes. The moderator can also delete an entire thread if the moderator feels its necessary.

However often either the original poster or the moderator will simply lock a thread that has gone on too long.

The regulars here get very upset with people who delete threads...often for very valid reasons, particularly if a lot of case law was cited on the thread, however the admin/moderator does advise people to delete their thread(s) if they feel that there is any viable concern about the threads remaining public.
