IL (US). 9 mos ago mom quit claimed to me our home. how do I protect myself from "the powers that be" from taking the home as a former asset of my mom's now that she has to go to a nursing home.

Did you record the deed at the courthouse?

Were there any other previously unsatisfied liens on the property?

Then the property belongs to you.

Unless you personally have a lien placed against the (your) property, no one else can make a claim to it at this point.

It no longer belongs to your mom, and no one can attach it based on your mom's prior rights to the property.
