Should a customer sue the shareholder or the LLC for a refund of a deposit for custom work?
In Florida, if a customer pays a deposit for custom work, and then breaks the contract by hiring someone else to finish it, does the company have to refund the deposit for custom made goods?

There are no shareholders in an LLC.
The LLC would be sued.
Why do you believe that the customer would have any right to have the deposit returned based on the scenario you presented?

If the terms of the contract are breached by the customer, the original company potentially can sue the customer.

Why did the customer do that? It possibly could matter.
