What is the name of your state? New York

I am dealing with a bank checking account that was frozen by a collection firm. Lucky I had no money in it.
I have opened another checking account with another bank. Can this collection firm find it and if so how do they do it? Can they freeze all accounts or certin types? I also have a savings account.
Thank you

They have ways of finding accounts and if they can't do it by calling around (which they do), then they'll haul you in for a debtor's exam and make you tell them where you have accounts. They'll get the info one way or another. They can take anything sitting in an account except for SSI and retirement accounts.
