I had my car engine rebuilt by a company here in South Carolina. I paid $2340 upfront to have it rebuilt. The man told me it would be 7-10 days for them to do it. My car went in on June 19th.
After 7-10 days, the car was not ready. I was told many excuses for about 45 days. When the owner finally called to say it was ready, he said the total was $1010. I told him that I had already paid him in full. He said they had to do more to the engine and he showed me the fine print that said he could do more to it. They never contacted me to ask if I wanted it done. He held my car on a mechanics lien until I paid the $1010.
I got my car back August 7th. They messed up my $500 alarm I had in it and it does not work now. I drive it for 3 days and now the engine is screwed up again. This guy has over 78 complaints on his business and has had 2 tv stations do a story on him. I met 2 other gentlemen the day I got my car back who also had their cars being repaired and the owner has done the same thing to them. I want my car fixed right! What can I do?
I figure I have him for fraud and probably breach of contract. He told me 7-10 days and didn't fix it in that time; he gave me no advance notice on extra repairs; and my engine is still not fixed. I am out $3350 and my car is still messed up. Please help!
