What is the name of your state? PR
I want the question to be answered in general. Imagine that legal age of consent of the state is 16. They are hypothetical questions.

I have two questions:

1-If a 16 year old and a 21 year (or older) old are involved in a romantic relationship but are NOT involving in any type of sexual activity. It's simply a romantic relationship... would the relationship be considered illegal and could the adult be sent to jail?

2-If the same couple IS having sexual relations but the legal age of consent of the state is 16, is it still illegal because of the age difference?

When the age of consent is 16, that means that at 16 it is legal. 15 is illegal.

Is your 'hypothetical' location Puerto Rico? If so:
- The legal age of consent for sexual activity is fourteen (14) years.
- The legal age of consent for marriage is sixteen (16) years.

As for the age difference: As long as both persons are over 14 years of age and consent is given, no violation.
