You wouldn't necessarily go after either. You would report it to your bank and they would prosecute whomever forged the check, and they would prosecute. Or you could use it as leverage, but it would probably be the employee that would get in trouble.

The employee told me he wouldn't cash the check until I got my tools back. He lied to you. There's a surprise. :rolleyes:
