Texas Bank charges to closed account

I closed my bank account in December 99. The account had automatic withdrawls and I notified the issuers of the closing. After that time the bank reopened the account and sent NSF fees to the account. I called them several times and told them I closed the account and that there should not be any further transactions. Four months later they are threatening to sue me for fees to the account I closed. They say they paid transactions. The records show no transactions paid. What can I do?

Tell the bank IN WRITING and the state banking commissioner if it is a state bank or the US Comptroller of the Currency if a National Bank, and the stores that improperly continued to debit.
