We are seasonal residence of this twp. They are putting in water service. However, they failed to put in a lateral line for us. This line was to be brought to within 10 ft. of the residence or at the most 75 ft. to the residence. When questioned as to why we don't have a lateral we were told we didn't sign an easement. However, the easement we received we did sign and we gave it to the attorney as directed. We were then told this was just an easement to come unto our property to put the main line. When asked why we weren't given the other easement we were told it probably went to the previous owner. We purchased our property Dec. 1, 2005 and this other easement went out sometime in Jan. , 2006. First of all, that makes no sense - wouldn't the easement to even come unto your property need to be addressed first and then if there were a second easement, the one to connect the lateral. They also had no trouble sending us the taxes in Jan. of 2006. This waterline was just put in in July of 2007. We even went into the office to see if we needed a permit to connect and the twp. gave us a paper to be completed by the person who was actually installing the water line. The twp. is saying it is not their problem. There is nothing they can do. We would like to be reimbursed for the installation of this lateral line. We were told we were the only ones this happened to and We feel we are being discriminated against because we are seasonal residents. Who is responsible for putting in or paying for this line? What is the name of your state?
