BOR - I had worked there for over 7 years. Long past the probationary period.

xylene - I concede that firing due to the economy is good cause, but how can the boss justify hiring somebody for my old position the next day? And the boss's son no less. Do you think that appears to be a legitimate business reason?

ElvinMelvin - I don't know how much the boss's son makes. Based on how much I made (or how little), I doubt it could be for much less.

Just one other thing--do you know if your former employer's son is working for less money/benefits?

If so, then the economic necessity reason may be valid.
Being the bosses son, perhaps he is wiser and can perform the duties more efficiently and therefore makes the economic necessity reason valid.
