What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas
I hope I do this right,I don't want to get anyone upset, here's my question: I hired a Law firm a few months back to fight a debt collector for me,and they got the price down to where I could make affordable payments, yesterday I got another summon to go to court for another credit card debt in 2 weeks. I was going to hire the same law firm, but after looking online at the ones repesenting this credit card company, they are the same law firm I had used in the other case, now,I have other delinquent debts also, and was needing to know, would it be better to file bankruptcy and if so,can I still be sued by this debt I was summoned for yesterday? If you need more infomation, please ask me,I'm new to forums, never used one before,so I hope I did this right.

a suit can continue up to the day you file bankruptcy. At that point all activity pauses.

Whether you should or shouldn't file BK is a personal decision and one must make based on their financial situation.

What I have quoted above of your post could be problematic.

Here is a link to the Texas Bar Association's Rules of Professional Conduct. See Rule 1.6 et seq, Conflict of Interest (starting on Page 27):

I recommend you contact an attorney from a different law firm for a personal review.

ok,I'll check that out now, thank you,I appericate it!
You're welcome, Nitelife. Thanks for the thanks.

I think it is smart for you to check this out. The law firm appears to me to have crossed a professional line that should not be crossed.

Good luck.

I'm also beind sued because I just found out I had a judgement against me. My bank sent me the paperwork the third part creditor sent them, giving them permission to freeze my funds. The document states they obtained a final judgement in 2011. Why am I just finding out now, in 2016? What do I do? How long can the try to collect? I'm not even sure if this is mine! I'm in Texas.
Please start your own thread, Amandalou. This thread belongs to Nitelife.
