I work as an Athletic Trainer for a high school in Lake County. Ever since I started I have had trouble with a few kids. I have addressed the situation with their coaches and it continued to be a problem until about a week ago. I treat male and female athletes. It was brought to my attention that I was accused of asking a 18 year old student on a date and having this so called conversation on "my space." I believe that I am being set-up because I made a couple of kids mad about them getting in serious trouble with their coaches. There is two profiles circulating that are not me. I know that anyone can make up a profile on this website. The kids do know a lot about me and my personal life unfortunately. What can I do?

As far as legaly, I can't help you with that. But I know you can report the profiles to myspace to have them deleted.

The legal age of consent in CA is eighteen unless there's some other statute that teachers or school personnel cannot date their charges. If you didn't create the profiles I think there's nothing to be concerned about anyway. Kids are cruel sometimes but if you're seeking legal remedy you may have something here.

WHOOPS! Read that wrong but I believe the same thing holds in Florida. I think the legal age of consent is eighteen in Florida also so the same thing holds. Unless there's some other statute addressing asking out eighteen year old students you didn't do anything wrong if in fact you did ask out contingent on any other statute.

Actually the guy can be fired and may be able to be charged because he is in a position of authority over these students and there are laws against teachers dating students.
