What is the name of your state? WI

i am in the middle of an injury claim with the insurance company of my apartment complex because i fell on standing water in the basement.

after my injury i tried contacting someone regarding it and got no where. i contacted our local news station's investigative reporting division and shared my concerns. the news station sent the office a letter and as soon as they got the letter they (the apt office) called me back!

i stated other problems to the news station besides my injury. one of which was a damaged extension cord that an upstairs tenant had plugged in to the basement leading up the steps to his apartment because he hadn't paid his electric bill. i was concerned because of the leaks and the constant standing water anything could have happened due to this guy's damaged cord; it was taped in several places. we'd brought this to the attention of the on site landlord and she just kept telling us to unplug it ourselves. she finally told us to just take the plug and throw it away. my bf took the cord from the basement but took it in to our apartment. i didn't want the guy who owned it to see my bf going out to throw it away... that could have been very dangerous.

so; this was stated to the news station. in the response letter that the manager sent to the station she said that "the cord had been removed over a week ago and we are in the process of evicting that tenant; therefore ____________ has fasely accused us of 'doing nothing'". (the _____is my name)

i have video tape of all of my concerns including tape of the cord in our home. the date of her letter was 10/18/06 and interestingly enough, the date of my last entry on the tape showing that we had the dangerous cord b/c the landlord told us to take it was 10/18/06; obviously her, 'over a week ago' comment is not true. i have the proof that i was telling the truth!

i am so frustrated. i've contacted the insurance company, and the news station regarding her letter and am waiting to hear back. i am sending the tape to whoever will look at it.

my question is, do i have any ground to sue the apartment owner? she blames me for false accusations and i can prove i was right and show that her letter falsely accuses me.

what do you think?
thank you

Absolutely! It's well known that it's illegal to lie, even unintentionally. The real question becomes, how much money can you spend? Because that's going to dictate how much you ask for.

I think now that you're going to be rich, if things don't work out between you and your boyfriend, maybe I can give you a call sometime!
