What is the name of your state? Ohio, On my sons Iep(which is for ADHD with many LD's and behavior issues, ODD, OCD, and Schizophrenia) we put on the IEP that he is not to be suspended for confrontations(that are not physical in school), but he may be given detention twice a week and that he can leave the classroom when he feels confrontations are getting out of control and go to the counselor at school. He was doing that today but was sent to the office for trying to leave to the classroom to go to the counselor. They say they are suspending him for disrespecting a teacher. He didn't get into trouble til he tried to go to the counselor. Do I have any recourse that I can take? The school just doesn't seem to care what's on the IEP or want to follow what's on it. It seems like a roll of toilet paper. Public schools seem to be only be for kids who are stepford kids. If I'm wrong I will apologize, but I don't feel I'm being wrong, I feel like they are picking on him almost of a harassment. If Ieps are not meant to be followed what good are they?
