About 6 years ago, I worked for a company that provided contract work to a government agency. The position required a detailed security investigation and background check since I was part of the IT department. I worked there about a year. I didn't really like working there since the IT director was a complete jerk. I did my job, rec'd my salary increases and bonuses as scheduled and was never reprimanded for any actions. When I left, I assumed I was leaving with a "clean" work record. About 6 months after I resigned, a different contractor called me about a similar position providing services to the same government agency. We did a 2 hour phone interview and I was pretty much hired for the position. We scheduled a prelim hiring meeting. When I called to confirm in a couple of days, they wouldn't even talk to me. I talked with a couple of my former coworkers and they said that the IT Director had found out about my assignment and personally went to the head of the government personnel department (OPM) to skuttle any chances of my being hired. He did a good job. Over the next 3 years, I applied for approximately 4 other government positions with the same results. I recently applied for a different government position and I was rejected immediately. The former head of OPM has retired and the IT Director has been demoted from the IT department which indicates to me that my employment record has a definite "red flag" attached. Is there any way I can get my record cleaned or take legal action???What is the name of your state?
